Soccer Cake Pops

soccer cake pops

I LOVE to make “sports themed” cake pops….EXCEPT soccer balls;)!!  They are just a pain!  But my husband plays year round so…. Here is the best/easiest way I have found to make them, I thought I would share it with you!  If you know of a better way, I am all ears:)!!

Of course I always start with cake dough and rolled it in the Easy roller so they are all the same size and shape and I can make a lot fast, see… 🙂

First melt your white candy melts in the microwave on 50% power (Or defrost) for 1 minute.  Take it out and stir it up.  Then pop it back in for 30 second intervals until it looks like this

Next dip the stick into the candy melts, then into the cake ball…

Now dip the entire pop into the candy melts!

And set in your favorite cake pop stand to cool and set…

Now for the piping…. Melt down your black candy melts (I stock up after Halloween on these)!  🙂  Put them into your piping bag (or sandwich baggy like me) and snip off a tiny corner.  I like to cut it so it is as small as possible but will still let out an even and controllable flow with even pressure on the bag.

Pipe out the “baseball diamond” shape or pentagon on the very top.  Then pipe a circle around the top 1/3 of the cake pop.  What we are going to do is slowly turn the cake pop while holding the piping bag still and giving it an even pressured squeeze!  Let the turning of the pop in your other hand draw the line around the cake pop.  If you try to pipe a line around the pop it’s much harder and may not look as nice…. I forgot to snap a picture of this part, but I have one from the Basketball cake pops I can share here!

You should have this so far!

Black takes a bit longer to set then any other color, which is great for these cake pops! Because next you want to pipe on a straight line from each corner of your center shape to that ring around the cake pop, like this

Since it is still wet, the lines will sink into itself  a bit:)! Next, still working quickly before it completely sets, you want to make additional Pentagon shapes at each point. starting the tip just above the line.  Kinda like a stick figure “house” use that ring as the divider between the “roof” and the “room” area…like this

Now fill it all in and pipe on two additional lines going down from the bottom two points.

Continue these steps around the entire cake pop.

Don’t forget to take a look andat our Easy Roller (or our new Mini Easy Roller!)  It is how we keep these tutorials coming;)!
